SEBON will hold WIW 2020 from Oct 07, 2020 to Oct 11, 2020

 

Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has decided to conduct the following programmes virtually, employing ZOOM technology, on the occasion of World Investors Week (WIW) as announced by IOSCO to hold WIW from October 5-11, 2020 under the campaign of raising awareness about the importance of investors education and protection and to highlight the investor education and protection initiatives of securities regulators.

Broadcasting radio programme from Radio Nepal-the National Radio Broadcaster of Nepal, on securities and commodities derivatives markets to build awareness and educate the people in a simple and effective manner residing in every part of country.

Radio broadcasting will be done throughout the country targeting at least 50 thousand general investors, entrepreneurs, students, housewives, retired senior citizen, employees, and reporters. The programme is targeted to empower the investors at large providing basic knowledge and information related to securities markets along with to induce their interest in securities markets.

Time: 3:00PM-5:30 PM

Organising presentation cum interaction programme on the fundamentals, regulatory provisions, advantages and disadvantages of free pricing of public issues through book-building method by an independent expert and authority from SEBON.

High level of authorities (CEO/MD) from public limited companies from real sector, experts and general investors, and authority from Office of Company Registrar, SEBON, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), and Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI).

This programme is aimed to orientate potential public limited companies from real sector on free pricing in public issue of securities and manage long-term fund requirements as well as educating the general investors about the benefits of the book-building system for the maximisation of shareholder wealth.

Time: 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Conducting a joint training cum awareness programme on securities markets to general investors with resource person from Nepal Stock Exchange Ltd. (NEPSE), CDS and Clearing Ltd. (CDSC), ICRA Nepal (Credit Rating Agency) in order to educate general investors about the right they have and services available for them.

· Lunching of a hand book on ” Securities Markets and Commodity Derivatives Markets, 2020”

· Launching of “Electronic Reporting and Retrieval System (ERRS)” of SEBON

About 100 thousand general investors, entrepreneurs, students, housewives, reporters, retired senior citizen, employees will directly get benefited with the knowledge and information on various aspects of securities markets.

Handbook will assist to increase the financial literacy on securities markets by way of fulfilling the famous quote “Knowledge is Power”. The aim of the handbook is to equip investors with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed investment decisions and effectively manage and protect their investments and wealth.

ERRS enhances both the reporting of financial and non-financial information by the market participants which is obviously a useful source of information for investors and can reduce the asymmetry information problem.

Publishing and disseminating the information on securities markets and investment through the major economic national daily newspapers.

About one million general investors, entrepreneurs, students, housewives, retired senior citizen, reporters, employees will directly get benefited by imparting knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage and protect their investments and wealth.

Broadcasting a documentary from Nepal Television (a national television) on the role of SEBON and initiatives taken and continued to empowering and protecting the general investors.

About 50 thousand general investors, entrepreneurs, students, housewives, reporters, retired senior citizen, employees will directly get benefited with the knowledge and information on SEBON and various aspects of securities markets.
