Capital Market Awareness and Investor Education Programme

Securities Board of Nepal conducted one week long ‘Capital Market Awareness and Investors Education Programme’ aiming to promote for the transparent and sustained capital market from June 20, 2012 to June 25, 2012 mostly on six places of eastern region. The first day of the programme began from Jhapa, jointly organized with Jhapa Chamber of Commerce and Industries on June 20, 2012. Dr Nabaraj Adhikari, deputy director and Head of Planning and Development Department of SEBON delivered his welcome speech and presented his working paper on 'Basics of Nepalese Securities Market'.

Training on Mutual Funds: Operational Dimensions and Challenges

SEBON, with the technical assistance of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) conducted a three days' training workshop, 'Training on Mutual Funds: Operational Dimensions and Challenges' on 12 to 14 June, 2012 for high level employees from mutual fund managers, mutual fund sponsor banks, merchant bankers, Nepal Stock Exchange Ltd, CDS and clearing Ltd., representative of investors' association, as well as officers from SEBON.

DP's certificate granted

SEBON has registered Laxmi Capital Market Ltd., Nabil Investment Banking Ltd., NMB Capital Ltd. and Stock Management & D.P. Ltd. as a depository member and issue the registration certificate as per the provision of Securities' Central Depository Service Regulation, 2067.

Seminar Organized on Securities Transaction cost

Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) organized a half day seminar on 'Transaction cost of Securities market' on April 6, 2012. The programme was inaugurated by honorable State Minister Hari Khewa Limbu from Ministry of Finance as the chief guest. Mr Babu Ram Shrestha, Chairman of SEBON chaired the programme. Honorable member of National Planning Commission Dr Janak Shah, Mr Krishna Hari Baskota, Secretary of Ministry of Finance and Mr Gopal Prasad Bhatta, Director of Nepal Rastra Bank expressed their views on the programme as guests.

DP's certificate granted

SEBON has registered Civil Capital Market Limited as a Depository member and issue the registration certificate as per the provision of Securities' Central Depository Service Regulation, 2067. This is the first Depository member registered after the commencement of Securities' Central Depository Service Regulation, 2067 (2010 AD).

Call for Research Proposals

Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) announces research proposals on topics viz., ‘Status of commodities market and possibility of regulation in Nepal’, ‘Securities market and real sector public ltd. companies’, `Scope of establishment of new stock exchange’, `Status and scope of securities market intermediaries’, and ‘Free pricing of IPOs’. SEBON has prepared the Terms of Reference (ToR) for these studies. Interested individual/team is requested to submit their research proposal along with their bio-data within one month of this announcement.
